You are a Manager

I have amazing potential. I can make good choices. I am never alone. I can do hard things. I am beautiful inside and out. I am of great worth. He has a plan for me. I know who I am a daughter of God. -By Elvira.L

According to the creator, homemaking is the God-given domain of womanly authority. It is not only our responsibility, but it is our place of influence and authority. What you do and how you do it will determine how the people around you especially your children will also behave. I grew up to know my mother as an early riser. Before we woke up she would have done 98% of her work. She was very neat, prayerful, and very accommodating. Living in a rural area, and not too educated did not dictate her extra creative ability as a mother. She would not allow any of us to wear torn clothes around the home or torn uniform to school. If there was no money to purchase a new uniform and the former was old, my mum would come to the school to take permission from our class teacher and the headmaster that we will be coming with mufti for the main time. She also ensured we had a balanced diet while growing up. You may say, “oh, you guys were rich’. hmmm, that’s a story for another day. We could afford to eat but it was not a LUXURIOUS life at all. However, that did not limit my mother from exhibiting the creativity in her as a (mother) to us and a (wife) to her husband, our father.

As a mother Let’s remember to teach our children the joys of productivity, accomplishment, discipline, and hard work. You do not have an excuse not to give yourself or family the best life to live. All you need is CREATIVITY The home is your area of creativity, an environment with which you can readily identify. A man has his work, you have your home; enjoy your responsibilities don’t sit there helplessly wondering what to do! I watched my mother do so many things as a child and of course, I assumed she was doing the right things (it is imperative for us women to put up the right attitude as a woman, the children are watching). Gradually, those things became part of me to date.

As a woman, you are totally in charge of the home. You are the manager of your home. Your job description (JD) is to manage everyone and everything God has put in your care. You can choose to rearrange the furniture. You can decorate any way you can. You can purchase anything you want as long as it’s within the budget. You can sew different drapes and of course, your husband’s decision should not be overruled. Making the entire household happy so the home becomes a haven they can all enjoy should be your priority.

So, what do you do as a mother? What habit are you creating for your children? Will your children and the people around you say of a truth, “she’s a virtuous woman indeed?’’ (Pro:31:10-31). What will you be remembered for? Are you the nagging type. Do you just go around the entire neighborhood gossiping because you’re a full-time housewife? Or are you too busy with house chores that you can’t think straight? Or are you a career woman who does not have time at all for herself let alone the family? You need to be creative. Creativity will enable you to prioritize and plan well. Use the methods that best work for you, don’t try to be anyone, do things in your way.
